STATE CHAMPION BULLDOGS. Capping an amazing 30-5 season with a 15-match win streak in October, the Bulldogs captured the 1AD1 state title by defeating the Challis Vikings 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-12. Earlier in the semi-final match, the Dawgs defeated league foe Troy for the fifth time this season 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 16-25, 15-11. This is the fourth Genesee volleyball championship in school history (1987, 2000, 2001, & 2009). On the final day, Brooke Dahmen recorded 56 kills, 49 digs, 4 aces and 2 blocks. Tori Johnson posted 20 kills and seven blocks. Erin Ghigleri picked up 15 kills, 6 aces, a block, and 44 digs. Brianna Nelson had 10 kills on the day, an ace, a block and nine digs. Karli Bennett had 89 assists, 4 aces, 5 kills, 17 digs and a block. Cassidy Phillips had three aces, three assists and 15 digs. Kendell Kelnhofer had 49 digs and an ace.

School records set during state tournament: Brooke Dahmen destroyed Nikki Long's kills in a season record (402) by posting 456 kills in 2009 plus she also surpassed the kills in a match record (28) held by Long with 31 kills against Challis in the final. Dahmen also broke the digs in a season record with 385 surpassing the previous record of 312 set in 2004 by Kaitlin Cramer. Both Erin Ghigleri (568) and Brooke Dahmen (569) broke the career dig record (528) previously held by Cramer.

Genesee picks up wins over Hagerman and Challis on day one of the Idaho 1AD1 state volleyball championship tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Hagerman 27-25, 26-24, 25-17 before going on to defeat Challis 25-23, 25-16, 25-20. Dahmen collected 41 kills, and 27 digs, teammate Tori Johnson blasted 23 kills and 7 blocks, Erin Ghigleri picked up 12 aces on the day (nine against Challis) and 25 digs, while teammate Kelnhofer surpassed all diggers with 35 digs on the day. Setter Karli Bennett posted 63 assists. Genesee will play arch-rival Troy at noon on Saturday in the semi-finals.
