Hello and welcome to Genesee Athletics!
This page is intended to provide information for team schedules, as well as access to forms necessary to participiate in Genesee school sports.
Student particpation is highly encouraged at Genesee Jr-Sr High School. Students that are involved in sports and activities learn time management skills, get to be part of a team and work on team building skills, and learn how to find their role and how they can contribute to the betterment of the team. Students must pass all of their classes to be elegible to participate in sports and activities. If students are involved they have passed their classes and will be on track to graduate.
Students in the 7th, 9th & 11th grades must have a current physical on file to participate in school sports. These physicals are good for 2 years, so 8th, 10th and 12th students will not need a new physical to participate, unless they didn't participate in sports the previous year, OR they are new to our district. New students must either provide us a physical form or get a physical before they are allowed to participate in school sports. Students & Parents will also need to complete the Interim questionnaire form and have it on file in the office for athletic participation.
You can find daily practice schedule and other information on the other sports website http://www.geneseebulldogs.com. This site comes with our schedule star subscription and has daily practice schedules when school is not in session, print off schedules by sport, and a plenty of other items to look into (cool spirit wear) that may peak your interest. You can even sign up for notifications on game changes. Go check it out!
LATEST NEWS updated 6/17/21 2:00pm
As we head into summer season, there are a few things to keep in mind looking ahead to next year.
Incoming 7th, 9th and 11th grade students will need sports physicals to play sports. There are usually free sports physicals offered by the local hospitals and health agencies, please check with them as this can help save parents some money. If you will be an 8th, 10th or 12th grade student and want to play sports, if you played last year we have your physical on file. If you did NOT play last year you will need to get a current physical to participate.
Vaccinations: I would encourage all 12+ year olds to make sure you are current on your vaccinations needed for school. I would also encourgae all 12+ year olds to seriously consider getting a cOVID vaccination too, as this will help to keep you cleared for coming to school and participating in sports. We sincerely hope things from this past year will be behind us, but if there contiue to be COVID outbreaks, students without a vaccination may be at risk for having to quarantine, missing face to face instruction and sports and activities. We won't require the vaccines, but it will sure make particpation much easier and safer if students are vaccinated.
Sports year in review: Considering all that we dealt with in regards to COVID, we were able to fully finish all but one of our sports seasons. Our teams earned a State Championship in Baseball, a 2nd place finish in Volleyball, a 4th place finish in Softball and a para-discus and para-100m State Champion at the State Track Meet. Congratualtions to our teams, coaches and student athletes on a very successful year!
There will be a no contact period for coaches and players from August 1 - August 8. If you're looking to take a family trip and don't want to miss any of the summer sports events, this is the perfect time to be gone.
Fall sports will begin August 9th. This includes FB, VB and Cheer. The FB co-op with Colton is still in effect. We also have a JH FB co-op with Colton in effect too. We have applied to continue the Girls Soccer co-op with Moscow HS too.
There will be a Parents Sports meeting in mid August, to be announced. We will go over paperwork, athletic health and training support, as well as concussion protocol information. After the general meeting coaches will have parent meetings for Fall sports.
Jr. High Football will be open to 6th - 8th graders and the season will begin August 23rd. All 6th graders will need a sports physical to play football. 7th graders who played last year will not need a physical, but they will have to get another one in 7th or before the start of 8th grade to meet the 2 year requirement.
As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to email Mr. Caldwell email@example.com Looking forward to a fun summer!
