Hello and welcome to Genesee Athletics!
This page is intended to provide information for team schedules, as well as access to forms necessary to participiate in Genesee school sports.
Student particpation is highly encouraged at Genesee Jr-Sr High School. Students that are involved in sports and activities learn time management skills, get to be part of a team and work on team building skills, and learn how to find their role and how they can contribute to the betterment of the team. Students must pass all of their classes to be elegible to participate in sports and activities. If students are involved they have passed their classes and will be on track to graduate.
Students in the 7th, 9th & 11th grades must have a current physical on file to participate in school sports. These physicals are good for 2 years, so 8th, 10th and 12th students will not need a new physical to participate, unless they didn't participate in sports the previous year, OR they are new to our district. New students must either provide us a physical form or get a physical before they are allowed to participate in school sports. Students & Parents will also need to complete the Interim questionnaire form and have it on file in the office for athletic participation.
You can find daily practice schedule and other information on the other sports website http://www.geneseebulldogs.com. This site comes with our schedule star subscription and has daily practice schedules when school is not in session, print off schedules by sport, and a plenty of other items to look into (cool spirit wear) that may peak your interest. You can even sign up for notifications on game changes. Go check it out!
Below is the updated basketball schedule. Updated 1/14/21Here are the latest guidelines for fans attending basketball games.Below are the details and logistics for parents to attend basketball games per the Governor's High School Spectator plan for athletic events.Student athletes may have up to 2 spectators for both home and away teams in the event area. This includes all JV & Varsity teams. This means 2 spectators per player per game they are playing in. We will issue colored passes for each team. I will be giving passes to players today during practice and explaining the expectations to players as well. The passes will be given to the players to give to their parents. A pass allows you entrance to the gym. Genesee will still be charging admission to help cover costs of the officials. We will be charging $5 since the majority of the people only get to see one game. Genesee passes and IHSAA passes will still be honored.
• All non-participating athletes, essential personnel, administrators, and table help are REQUIRED to properly wear masks. Teams may remain in the gym
behind the team playing.• Basketball
JV Team will not exceed 13 student participants
Varsity Team will not exceed 13 student participants
Varsity Cheer will not exceed 6 student participantsEssential personnel as determined by coaches and administration. Essential personnel other than coaches have passes to use for entrance to games. A maximum of 5 per program as determined by the league.Health and Safety Measures
Masks and facial coverings are REQUIRED for all spectators, and game personnel.Physical distancing must be practiced in any place in the facility. Stickers will clearly mark where fans are supposed to sit in the gym. For purposes of this plan, physical distancing is 12 feet from non-household members.
• Direction and flow of spectators
The entry and exit and flow of directions as spectators enter the gym and exit
the gym will be clearly marked.
Home spectators and away spectators will enter through separate entrances and
leave through those same entrances. We will have stickers on the doors for Visiting Fans and Home Fans.
Physical distancing will be expected in all areas of the facility including entry
ways, exits, lobbies, bathrooms, and congregation of people is prohibited within
the schools.• Event areas, such as gyms, will be cleared after each event, cleaned, and sanitized prior to the second event taking place.Spectators will have to leave the facilities after a JV event, the facility will have to
be cleaned, and then the spectators for the Varsity event may enter. For those parents with JV and Varsity players, you will still need to exit the gym for cleaning, but will not be charged twice for the games.Bathrooms will be checked multiple times throughout an event.
Physical distancing signage will need to be in place in all areas.Hand sanitizer will be plentiful and available to spectators and participantsI just want to say how thankful we are for your support during this experience. We want to keep kids coming to school for face to face instruction, and students playing the sports and activities they love. This takes difficult decisions at times, but we will continue to put students and safety as the top priorities. Thank you for being reasonable, understanding, and willing to find other ways to support the programs, so kids can stay involved in their sports and activities.GO BULLDOGS!Stay healthy!
