Hello and welcome to Genesee Athletics!
This page is intended to provide information for team schedules, as well as access to forms necessary to participiate in Genesee school sports.
Student particpation is highly encouraged at Genesee Jr-Sr High School. Students that are involved in sports and activities learn time management skills, get to be part of a team and work on team building skills, and learn how to find their role and how they can contribute to the betterment of the team. Students must pass all of their classes to be elegible to participate in sports and activities. If students are involved they have passed their classes and will be on track to graduate.
Students in the 7th, 9th & 11th grades must have a current physical on file to participate in school sports. These physicals are good for 2 years, so 8th, 10th and 12th students will not need a new physical to participate, unless they didn't participate in sports the previous year, OR they are new to our district. New students must either provide us a physical form or get a physical before they are allowed to participate in school sports. Students & Parents will also need to complete the Interim questionnaire form and have it on file in the office for athletic participation.
You can find daily practice schedule and other information on the other sports website http://www.geneseebulldogs.com. This site comes with our schedule star subscription and has daily practice schedules when school is not in session, print off schedules by sport, and a plenty of other items to look into (cool spirit wear) that may peak your interest. You can even sign up for notifications on game changes. Go check it out!
District VB Information
Good Morning,After careful consideration and input from Dr. Moore, and out of an abundance of caution trying to be proactive and keeping everyone involved healthy, we are going to CANCEL the volleyball match with Troy tonight. Both teams have qualified for state, so tonight's match is really about seeding.Let me be clear, we do not have any cases with our VB team, we simply want to keep people safe in Genesee and Troy. I have spoken with the Troy Administration as well, and we're all on the same page to keep all of our players, coaches and fans healthy. The AD's decided at the beginning of the season that if we needed to cancel any part of the district tournament we would just go with the league standings and/or where the teams were in the tournament. As it turns out, the league standings had Troy 1 and Genesee 2, and in the tournament Troy is sitting at 1 and Genesee at 2, since Troy doesn't have a loss and Genesee does. This is how the teams will be seeded into the state tournament out of our region. As much as we want to be competitive and settle competition on the court, this is the best decision for us looking forward to the state tournament. With tonight's cancellation we don't have to play another team until next Friday, so the players, coaches, and fans can stay home, get some rest and only come together during the scheduled practice time next week. Players and coaches are required to wear masks during practice, and once practice is over please don't linger, just head home.I will have more information relating to the state tournament on Monday. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I assure you this was not an easy decision.Stay healthy!
The 1A D1 state tournament is at Jerome HS on October 30 and 31st.
