Dear Students and Families of Spanish Students,
Hola y Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Hello and welcome to Spanish Class! My name is Ms. Beth Casey.
I am very happy to have joined the Genesee School District in 2017.
Prior to that, I spent ten years overseas with my husband teaching Spanish, English, ESL and French in international schools. Before that, I lived and taught in the greater Seattle area as well as in Asia and Africa. I previously taught French in my hometown, Moscow. We returned to Moscow four years ago, after more than two decades away, in order to be closer to family. Unfortunately we lost my dad in January of 2020, but we are very happy to still have my mom with us!
I have always had a compelling interest in other languages and cultures, starting with an exploratory Spanish class and a 5-week trip to Spain with Moscow Jr. High School Spanish Club. We had a 3-week homestay with Spanish families and took classes at the Universidad de Salamanca - a life-changing experience. After high school, I lived with a family in Barcelona and attended high school there for a year in order to become more fluent in Spanish language and culture. It was a fascinating experience and I hope to impart my love of languages and cultures to my students.
I am really enjoying my classes and I very much look forward to working with you this year!
