Mrs. Tauna Johnson
This will be my thirty-third year teaching at Genesee Elementary. I taught fifth grade for twenty-seven years, and now I have the privilege of teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade science while I am also the fifth-grade homeroom teacher.
I have lived in this area all my life. I graduated from Colfax High School, then went to Eastern Washington University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a reading major and math minor. When I started teaching in Genesee, I learned how much I love teaching science. I then began working with University of Idaho professors on different science grants and was able to gain science knowledge and experience teaching hands-on science. These experiences led me to pursue my Master of Education Degree at the University of Idaho focusing on assessing hands-on science.
Being able to use my passion for science education with young children is my dream job. I love watching my students' eyes light up after they accomplish a task or project that deepened their thinking.
My husband and I have two grown children who are married and one granddaughter. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling with my husband, going for walks, and baking.
