Superintendent's Letter
Updated

Dear Members of the Genese Joint School Community,

I am writing to share some important news. After much reflection, I  made the decision to step down from my role as Superintendent at the end of this school year. My last day of service will be June 30, 2026.

This was not an easy decision, as it has truly been an honor to serve this district and work alongside such dedicated students, staff, families, and community members. However, I have decided to return to Michigan in order to be closer to my parents and daughter. This next chapter is rooted in personal reasons, and I am grateful for the understanding and support I have already received.

The Board of Education has begun the search process, and the Superintendent position is currently open. A new Superintendent is expected to begin on July 1, 2026. I am committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless transition and will work closely with the Board and incoming leader to support the district during this period.

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the trust, collaboration, and shared commitment to our students that has defined my time here. This community is remarkable, and it has been a privilege to be part of its growth and success.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve. I look forward to making the most of the months ahead together.

With appreciation,

Wendy Moore,

PhD Superintendent

School Safety Protocols
Updated

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

At Genesee Schools, the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors is our top priority.  To ensure a safe learning environment, we are implementing the following procedures during school hours, effective immediately.

  1. Entry Through Office:  Students, parents, and guests are expected to enter the school building through the office doors only.  All exterior doors will remain locked during school hours.  Exception:  7:30 Students who are having breakfast may enter the door by the office (door will be attended by a staff member), and at 7:45, Teacher/ Administrators will let students in to the respective ends. of their building through the front doors. At 7:50, all students will be expected to enter through the secondary office doors.
  2. Visitor Check In:  All visitors and parents will be required to sign in at the office before being allowed to enter the school building.
  3. Teacher Visits:  All visitors must be checked in at the office, and the office will contact the teacher for permission to proceed to classrooms.
  4. Guest Badges are required. All visitors are required to wear a visible guest badge while in the building.

How can parents help?

  • Remind your child(ren) to never open exterior doors for others (even if they know them).
  • Always check in at the office when visiting the school.
  • Please make sure that when you are sending guests to pick up your child(ren) that they are aware of drop-off and pickup procedures.
  • Report any suspicious activity or safety concerns to school staff or the School Resource Officer (SRO) immediately. Officer Brown can be reached at cbrown@sd282.org or 208-285-1161 ext 4121.

These procedures, along with your support, help us maintain a secure environment where students can focus on learning without interruptions. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

If you have questions or concerns regarding school safety procedures, please contact the school office at 208-285-1161.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming school community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wendy Moore, Supt.
